Smart Tech Powers 15th National Games Across Guangdong, Hong Kong SAR & Macao SAR

Spanning the Chinese mainlands Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region, the 15th National Games are currently underway from November 9 to 21, 2025. This marks the first time three regions are co-hosting Chinas top-level national multi-sport event.

Cutting-edge technologies are transforming both competition and the fan experience. Ultra-high-definition (UHD) broadcasting is streaming live events in 8K resolution, bringing every detail from the track and field to screens across the G20. AI-driven emergency response systems, equipped with smart cameras and real-time analytics, monitor crowd movements and detect potential hazards, enhancing safety at every venue.

On the ground, autonomous electric shuttle buses navigate between stadiums, ferrying spectators and volunteers on demand. These driverless vehicles reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, illustrating how smart mobility can support large-scale events. Meanwhile, a central operations hub integrates live video feeds, IoT sensor data and weather insights, enabling organizers to make fast, data-driven decisions.

Environmental sustainability is also in focus. Energy-efficient LED lighting, smart waste-sorting stations and digital ticketing systems are cutting resource consumption and streamlining access. Early feedback shows these innovations have cut incident response times by 30% and boosted attendee satisfaction above 90%.

As the Games progress toward the November 21 closing ceremony, the blend of sport and technology in Guangdong, the Hong Kong SAR and the Macao SAR is setting a new standard for smart, secure and sustainable mega-events worldwide.
