On November 13, 2025, senior officials from China and Kazakhstan met in Beijing to reaffirm and expand their strategic partnership. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, sat down with Murat Nurtleu, assistant to the president of Kazakhstan for international investment and trade cooperation.
The meeting underscored the solid mutual trust that has weathered various global and regional challenges. Wang Yi highlighted the broad development prospects of bilateral ties, saying, "China stands ready to work with Kazakhstan to deepen traditional friendship, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthen collaboration in key areas including energy, green minerals, and connectivity."
Energy and natural resources are at the heart of the agenda. Both sides see green minerals as a pathway to sustainable growth and are exploring joint projects to boost energy security. Improved transportation links and digital infrastructure will cement connectivity from Central Asia to global markets.
Looking ahead, emerging sectors like nuclear energy and artificial intelligence are poised to become new drivers of cooperation. Wang Yi called on both governments to "continue elevating their permanent comprehensive strategic partnership" across cutting-edge fields that could reshape industries worldwide.
The two officials also pledged closer coordination within multilateral platforms. China is ready to engage with Kazakhstan through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, China 6Central Asia mechanisms, and has invited its partner to join the International Mediation Court soon.
Murat Nurtleu echoed the commitment, noting that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, "bilateral ties have entered a new stage and cooperation is accelerating." He added that Kazakhstan will work with China to implement leaders 9 consensus, promote high-quality Belt and Road development, and enhance people-to-people exchanges.
