On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Chinese mainland held a ceremony at Zhongshan Park in central Beijing to commemorate the 159th birth anniversary of national hero Sun Yat-sen.
Hosted by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the event brought together senior officials who paid tribute with flowers and bows before Sun's bronze statue.
Attendees included representatives from the CPPCC National Committee, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and the Beijing municipal government.
Also present were officials from the central committees of non-Communist parties, prominent figures without party affiliation, members of the CPPCC Beijing municipal committee, Sun Yat-sen's descendants, and representatives of other organizations.
Born in 1866 in south China's Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen is celebrated as a great patriot and forerunner of China's democratic revolution. He led the 1911 Revolution, which overthrew the Qing Dynasty and ended over 2,000 years of feudal rule.
The commemoration highlighted Sun Yat-sen's enduring influence in China's democratic revolution.
