China and Norway Strengthen Ties in Beijing Ministerial Talks

On November 10, 2025, in Beijing, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi met Norwegian foreign minister Espen Barth Eide for talks aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation. The meeting underscores a shared commitment to stable ties between the Chinese mainland and Norway.

Wang Yi, a Political Bureau member of the CPC Central Committee, described Norway as an important and stable European partner. He urged both sides to implement consensus reached by their leaders, respect core interests, and pursue openness and win-win cooperation.

Both ministers pledged to support multilateralism, oppose decoupling and supply chain disruptions, and work toward a more just international system. Eide reaffirmed Norway’s adherence to the one-China policy and highlighted Norway’s role as a leader in Europe’s green transition.

As part of green cooperation, Norway fully opens its market to Chinese electric vehicles under a zero-tariff policy. Norwegian companies expressed optimism about expanding investments in the Chinese market, tapping into innovation and green development opportunities.

The two ministers also aligned on global governance, agreeing to uphold the UN Charter and a rules-based multilateral trading system. On the Middle East, they called for effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement and stronger support for the Palestinian National Authority’s governance capabilities.

Looking ahead, China and Norway will strengthen alignment of their development strategies and expand cooperation in trade, maritime affairs, green development, and innovation, fostering a stable environment for enterprises from both sides.
