12th Wuzhen Summit: Top 3 Pillars for a Shared Digital Future

The 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit opened on November 7 in the historic town of Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province, China. This 12th edition and the fourth since WIC's establishment as an international organization in 2022 has brought together more than 1,600 participants from over 130 countries and regions, along with representatives from bodies such as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and minister of the Publicity Department, delivered the keynote address. Drawing on the summit theme—Building an Open, Cooperative, Secure, and Inclusive Digital Future: Jointly Forging a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace—he highlighted three pillars that are shaping global consensus:

1. Open Collaboration

In an interconnected world, open collaboration paves the way for shared innovation. Delegates discussed cross-border data flows, open-source software projects, and multilateral partnerships to lower digital barriers and accelerate progress.

2. Robust Security

Cyber threats are evolving fast. Experts at the summit explored strategies to bolster infrastructure, safeguard privacy, and build trust in digital transactions. From AI-driven threat detection to harmonized cybersecurity standards, the focus is on resilience.

3. Inclusive Growth

Bridging the digital divide remains a global priority. Sessions showcased initiatives to expand broadband access, empower underrepresented communities, and promote digital literacy. Investing in people ensures everyone can benefit from tech advances.

As the summit continues, attendees will delve deeper into these pillars through panel discussions, workshops, and bilateral dialogues. With fresh insights and data-driven strategies, the 12th Wuzhen Summit sets the stage for a more connected, secure, and inclusive digital future.
