In a high-profile meeting in BrasĂlia, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva laid out a vision to deepen political trust, synchronize development strategies, and champion multilateralism on the world stage.
Ding conveyed warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting how the strategic guidance of Xi and Lula has propelled the China-Brazil community with a shared future from concept to concrete progress. "Our cooperation has become a model for major developing countries," Ding said, emphasizing the long-term, strategic importance of their partnership.
With the 20th CPC Central Committee charting a course for high-quality growth and greater openness, Ding signaled China's readiness to expand practical ties across trade, technology, poverty reduction, and more. He called for closer alignment in multilateral forums, joint efforts to reform global governance, and united opposition to unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism.
On climate action, Ding applauded Brazil's leadership in hosting the Belem Climate Summit and pledged Chinese support to ensure its success. "We stand ready to inject new momentum into global climate processes," he added, tying in China's Global Development Initiative to bring tangible benefits to peoples on both sides.
President Lula reciprocated Xi's regards and thanked China for sending a high-level delegation to Belem. He lauded China's green transition achievements as a blueprint for the world and noted that, since launching their shared-future agenda a year ago, the two countries have hit key milestones in trade, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
Looking ahead, both leaders agreed that multilateralism is indispensable in a fragmented world. Brazil will continue coordinating closely with China to support peaceful resolutions in Latin America and beyond, reinforcing their roles as pillars of regional stability and champions of a fairer, more sustainable global order.
