The 42.195km route wound its way past Beijing's iconic landmarks, including the National Speed Skating Oval, an homage to the city's dual-Olympic legacy, before wrapping up against the modern backdrop of the Olympic Park.
Organizers revamped the second half of the course to feature just one turnaround point, streamlining the flow and enhancing the runner experience. Along the way, eight comprehensive supply stations, seven water stops, and seven energy stations kept competitors fueled.
Leading the charge, Ethiopia's defending champion Lemi Berhanu claimed the men's title in 2:08:10, narrowly fending off a competitive field. His compatriot Anchinalu Dessie mirrored that dominance in the women's race, crossing the line in 2:26:08 for her first Beijing Marathon crown.
In the domestic rankings, China's Li Dalin and Huang Xuemei topped the men's and women's fields, respectively, showcasing the depth of homegrown talent.
