The 15th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, the highest honor in the Chinese mainland's music community, is underway in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, from October 18 to 29.
"Music has become an inseparable part of my life," says Yang Yalin, a high school student and guzheng player – performer of one of China's most ancient stringed instruments.
This year, Yang took part in the guzheng competition at the awards. Although she didn't reach the semifinals, the experience became a bright beacon on her musical journey, reminding her of how deeply she loves traditional Chinese music.
For Yang and many performers, her story underscores the enduring appeal of traditional instruments and the personal growth found in every competition.
