Last Friday, Washington, D.C., buzzed with ideas as the U.S. session of the "Innovation, Openness, and Shared Development" Global Dialogue kicked off. Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in the U.S., the event launched a new series aimed at bridging perspectives across borders.
In a video address, Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and president of CMG, highlighted how the Chinese mainland's push for technological self-reliance is driving global innovation. Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng followed with a keynote speech on expanding high-level openness and sharing development opportunities worldwide.
Dr. Robert Kuhn, chairman of the Kuhn Foundation, and Dr. Denis Simon, chairman of the Alliance of Global Talent Organizations, offered data-driven insights into talent mobility and cross-border collaboration. Nearly 100 participants—including international affairs experts, scholars, and youth representatives from both China and the U.S.—took part in in-depth discussions.
Topics ranged from cutting-edge research in renewable energy to startup ecosystems that benefit from open markets. One highlight: a panel on how shared digital infrastructure can boost innovation in emerging markets, offering young entrepreneurs a roadmap for real-world impact.
As the Global Dialogue series officially launched, attendees left with fresh perspectives on how openness and partnership can fuel sustainable growth. For a generation of digitally savvy global citizens, this event marked a promising step toward collaborative solutions across cultures and economies.
