In a dynamic effort to narrow the AI expertise gap, UNIDO partnered with the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in the Chinese mainland to host the AI Capacity Building Workshop on Thursday.
Government officials from Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Zambia, Brazil, Kazakhstan and other nations across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe joined interactive sessions, field research and panel discussions designed to share best practices and forge new collaborations.
Highlights included demonstrations of AI-driven healthcare tools, adaptive education platforms and green development initiatives. Participants explored how machine learning can accelerate diagnostics, personalize learning and optimize energy use in urban ecosystems.
Aligned with the UN General Assembly resolution on "Enhancing International Cooperation on Capacity-Building of Artificial Intelligence" and the Global AI Capacity Building Initiative, the workshop underscored the importance of inclusive strategies. Experts emphasized equitable access and cross-border partnerships to ensure that AI benefits reach all communities.
As the event concluded, attendees left equipped with practical insights and a growing network of peers, ready to implement AI solutions that support a sustainable, equitable digital future.
