Tracing Taiwan’s War of Resistance with Lan Bozhou & CGTN

In a 20-day odyssey across the island of Taiwan and China's Chongqing, author Lan Bozhou and a film crew from CGTN brought to life a forgotten chapter of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Lan, whose writing has focused on the island of Taiwan's modern history in the 1950s, followed the footsteps of Wu Sihan, a young activist who left his home in the island of Taiwan in the 1940s to join the anti-Japanese struggle in Chongqing.

Through lush archival photos and immersive interviews, viewers trace Wu's journey—from clandestine meetings in Taipei to the battle-scarred streets of Chongqing, where he offered support to the resistance leadership. Lan's narration weaves personal anecdotes with broader historical insights, revealing how local communities on the island of Taiwan played a vital role in shaping postwar identity.

For young global citizens and history buffs alike, this project underscores the power of storytelling to connect past and present. It also highlights the importance of cultural memory for entrepreneurs, activists, and travelers seeking deeper ties to the places they engage with. As Lan puts it, "When we recover these stories, we reclaim our shared heritage and inspire new generations to learn from history."

The documentary is set to premiere in line with the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration, inviting audiences worldwide to reflect on resilience, resistance, and the enduring legacies that shape our world today.
