After the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, China has unveiled its 20262030 blueprint to modernize its industrial system and boost self-reliance in science and technology.
According to the session communique, the plan aims to reinforce the foundations of the real economy and steer the development of new quality productive forces.
At a press conference, Zheng Shanjie, head of the National Development and Reform Commission, highlighted forward-looking industries: quantum technology, bio-manufacturing, hydrogen and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied artificial intelligence, and 6G communications.
"When these industries hit their stride, the new scale added over the next 10 years could mirror the impact of creating another high-tech sector," Zheng said.
Building a robust domestic market and accelerating the shift to a high-standard socialist market economy are also priorities. Opening up remains central: Commerce Minister Wang Wentao stated, "Moving forward, whether it is opening up or attracting investment, we will avoid zero-sum approaches that harm others for personal gain."
Major goals include fresh breakthroughs in comprehensive reform, cultural and ethical progress, and quality-of-life improvements. As the Chinese mainland charts its course for 20262030, the message is clear: innovate boldly, open widely, and pursue high-quality development for all.
