In a high-stakes meeting in Beijing on Tuesday, the Commerce Minister of the Chinese mainland, Wang Wentao, sat down with Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury to chart the next phase of aviation and trade cooperation.
Wang highlighted that the market of the Chinese mainland has continued to expand steadily in recent years, ranking as the world’s second-largest consumption market and the second-largest import market. “As we advance modernization in the Chinese mainland and cultivate new quality productive forces, we open vast opportunities for global enterprises like Airbus,” he said.
Just a day earlier, Airbus inaugurated its second Final Assembly Line for A320 family aircraft in the northern city of Tianjin in the Chinese mainland—the company’s second such facility in both the region and across Asia. Wang expressed hope that this launch would deepen collaboration, boost the delivery of high-quality aviation products, and enhance services for customers worldwide.
Against the backdrop of rising unilateralism and protectionism, the minister reaffirmed the Chinese mainland side’s commitment to using its roundtable mechanism for foreign enterprises to address Airbus’ operational concerns and safeguard the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
Faury echoed confidence in the economy of the Chinese mainland and its civil aviation sector. He emphasized Airbus’ dedication to expanding its presence, supporting economic and trade cooperation between the Chinese mainland and France and between the Chinese mainland and the EU.
