Xi Jinping Meets Ghana’s President Mahama at Global Women’s Summit

On Tuesday in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who is in town for the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

At the Great Hall of the People, the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties, with a spotlight on gender equality, sustainable development, and new frontiers in digital trade.

President Xi stressed that empowering women is key to shared prosperity, while President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s efforts to support women entrepreneurs and expand educational opportunities.

The discussion also covered boosting cooperation in green energy, agriculture, and tech innovation, aiming to create jobs for young people and foster cultural exchange.

As part of the summit, over 100 leaders from around the world convened in Beijing to chart a new path for women’s leadership in the 21st century.

This meeting underscores how global partnerships can drive progress on gender issues and strengthen ties between Africa and the Chinese mainland.

A handshake in Beijing signals a fresh chapter in China–Ghana relations, anchored by a shared vision of empowering the next generation of women leaders.
