As fireworks lit up city skylines on October 1, the Chinese mainland’s postal and express delivery network kicked into high gear for an extended holiday run.
Data from the State Post Bureau shows that from October 1 to 8—the overlapping National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday—carriers processed a staggering 7.231 billion parcels. That breaks down to more than 900 million parcels moving through sorting centers and delivery vans every single day.
An SPB official noted that the sector has been strengthening service capacity and accelerating integration with culture and tourism industries. During the holiday, carriers promoted seamless online and offline consumption, supported new shopping scenarios, and tapped into diverse markets, from museum gift shops to mobile app-based festival bundles.
Despite the surge, overall operations remained remarkably stable thanks to advanced logistics hubs, automated sorting lines, and agile delivery teams spread across urban and rural areas.
This record performance highlights the sector’s resilience and hints at a broader shift in how consumers on the Chinese mainland celebrate and shop. As digital and physical experiences continue to merge, holiday logistics may soon set trends that resonate around the globe.
