CMG and HKSAR Forge Media Collaborations

A gathering of high-ranking officials marked a new chapter in media collaboration in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Monday as China Media Group (CMG) joined forces with local sectors to spark innovation across broadcasting, digital content and cultural exchange.

John Lee, chief executive of the HKSAR, opened the ceremony with remarks on the role of Hong Kong as a global media hub, noting its unique position to blend international perspectives with resources from the Chinese mainland. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, highlighted plans for joint ventures in news production, training programmes, and technology-driven storytelling. Zhou Ji, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, echoed the call for deeper ties and outlined initiatives to nurture talent and boost cross-border collaboration.

The partnerships aim to harness new media tools—from livestreaming and virtual reality to interactive platforms—to reach audiences across G20 markets. For young professionals and entrepreneurs, these collaborations open doors to workshops, internships and startup opportunities at the intersection of technology and storytelling.

Thought leaders and changemakers will benefit from forums examining media’s role in sustainable development and human rights, while sports and entertainment fans can look forward to co-produced documentaries and live coverage of major events. For digital nomads and travelers, immersive cultural projects promise fresh perspectives on Hong Kong’s vibrant arts scene and regional connectivity.

As the world watches, the CMG–HKSAR alliance is set to redefine media cooperation in Asia, blending tradition with innovation to engage a globally minded generation.
