Bridging Cultures: “Common Fate, Common Future” Event in Budapest

BUDAPEST — On September 26, Budapest hosted "Common Fate, Common Future," a signature cultural exchange event co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the Hungarian Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund, and the Hungarian-China Friendship Association.

CMG President Shen Haixiong highlighted the strong momentum in China-Hungary relations, introducing the documentary L.E. HUDEC. Through rare archival fragments, the film reconstructs architect L.E. Hudec’s life, work and lasting legacy, illustrating stories of cross-cultural collaboration between the two nations.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Gong Tao called the Hungarian broadcast of the documentary a milestone for media cooperation, underlining its role as a bridge for mutual understanding and friendship.

Deputy State Secretary and Minister of Culture and Innovation Csaba Gabor emphasized how Hudec’s architectural masterpieces in Shanghai symbolize a key link between Hungary and China. Nagy Judit, President of the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, noted that decades of cultural exchanges form the bedrock of growing diplomatic and economic ties.

Director Chen Qing shared behind-the-scenes insights on filming at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The Hungarian-language version of L.E. HUDEC aired in prime time on national television from September 6 to October 4, drawing steadily rising viewership and plans for multiple reruns throughout the year.

As the event drew to a close, attendees left with a renewed sense of connection—proof that storytelling and media collaboration continue to deepen the bond between China and Hungary.
