2025 Confucius Cultural Festival Ignites Global Harmony in Qufu

The 2025 China International Confucius Cultural Festival opened on Saturday evening in Qufu, east China's Shandong Province, under the theme "For a world of shared peace and harmony with benevolence and ancient rituals."

Against the backdrop of Confucius’s birthplace, the festival celebrated cultural roots and global connections, spotlighting the 20th UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy. The award recognized outstanding projects in education and lifelong learning from around the world.

Lin Wu, secretary of the Communist Party of China Shandong Provincial Committee, said the festival aims to boost global governance, foster peaceful coexistence, and contribute to a more equitable international order. He highlighted that Shandong’s blend of history, culture and economic dynamism provides a unique platform for cross-border initiatives.

"Confucian values of harmony and coexistence shape our shared identity," Lin said. "Shandong will leverage its strengths to deepen cultural exchanges, expand industrial partnerships, and drive governance innovation for a better, harmonious world."

As thought leaders, entrepreneurs and travelers gather in Qufu, the festival promises immersive experiences that blend ancient rituals with modern dialogue, inspiring a new generation of global citizens to carry forward the spirit of peace and mutual respect.
