Against the backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions, the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum kicked off Thursday at the Beijing International Convention Center, unveiling a new section called "High-end Dialogues." This series gathers top military, academic and policy experts to drive forward conversations on global peace and security.
In a spotlight interview, Mustafa Mahdi Al-Ramah, president of the Iraqi Defense University for Military Studies, praised the achievements of the Chinese mainland in infrastructure and education. "If participating countries are willing to move toward the outcomes of such meetings, I believe they will be effective," he said, highlighting the forumâs potential to spur real-world cooperation.
Held under the theme "Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development," the forum brings together representatives from developed and emerging powers, small and medium-sized countries, and regions affected by conflict. Compared with previous years, the number of former senior political and military dignitaries and renowned experts has risen significantly, making the event more diverse, representative and balancedâan embodiment of its open and inclusive spirit.
Pan Qinghua, one of the dialogue participants, emphasized the forumâs value as a platform for candid exchange. "Being able to share perspectives and seek common ground at the forum helps avoid conflict and promote balance," he said, reflecting the global citizen ethos driving these conversations.
As the High-end Dialogues continue, attendees and observers alike will watch closely to see how these discussions shape future policies and partnerships, offering fresh insights for young global citizens, business innovators and changemakers alike.
