In a landmark meeting in Beijing on Tuesday, China’s Defense Minister Dong Jun sat down with Cuban Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Alvaro Lopez Miera to chart a new course for bilateral military cooperation.
Describing China–Cuba relations as “a model of solidarity and cooperation,” Dong emphasized both nations’ shared mission to deepen personnel exchanges and practical collaboration. “We aim to elevate our military ties to a fresh level and build a China–Cuba community with a shared future,” he said, reflecting a broader vision born from leadership consensus.
Lopez, who is in Beijing for the 12th Xiangshan Forum, returned the praise. He expressed Cuba’s full support for China’s four major global initiatives and reaffirmed Havana’s commitment to strengthening this special friendship. “Cuba will continue to consolidate and raise the bar for cooperation between our two militaries,” he noted.
The dialogue underscores a broader trend of deepening South–South cooperation, as developing nations leverage mutual support to navigate an evolving geopolitical landscape.
Beyond defense, this partnership promises cultural exchanges and joint training programs—offering travelers and digital nomads immersive experiences while reinforcing ties that span continents.
