China and South Korea Unite to Oppose Trade Protectionism

In the heart of Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun to reaffirm the two nations’ shared commitment to economic globalization.

Speaking at the start of their talks, Wang Yi emphasized how both China and South Korea have leveraged globalization to drive growth, create jobs, and foster innovation. With global trade under pressure from rising unilateralism and protectionist measures, he urged the two countries to stand together in defending the global free trade system.

"Amid rising unilateralism and acts of bullying in today’s world, we must jointly oppose trade protectionism and defend the rules that underpin our interconnected economies," Wang said. He highlighted the importance of a stable and continuous China policy towards South Korea, calling for sincerity and trust in bilateral relations.

The ministers agreed to deepen cooperation across sectors—from advanced manufacturing and digital technologies to green energy—and to pursue win-win outcomes while properly addressing any sensitive issues. Their dialogue signals a shared vision for an open, resilient global economy.

For young entrepreneurs, professionals, and changemakers, the message is clear: collaboration and openness are key to navigating today’s complex trade landscape and ensuring sustainable growth for all.
