Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Ljubljana on Sunday, meeting with Marko Lotric, president of the National Council of Slovenia, to discuss deepening ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
Wang outlined China’s development path—socialism with Chinese characteristics—that blends Marxist principles with national realities and traditional culture. “This is a path of peace, development, openness, and win-win cooperation,” he said, emphasizing that it remains firmly rooted in the people and aligned with global trends.
Looking ahead, Wang pledged that China will continue to expand high-level opening-up, champion green and low-carbon growth, and pursue modernization with Chinese characteristics. In international affairs, China will advocate mutual respect, tolerance, and shared success, striving to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
“China’s continuous development will offer opportunities to countries around the world, including Slovenia,” Wang noted, calling on Ljubljana to adhere to the one-China principle and play a constructive role in strengthening China–Europe relations.
Marko Lotric praised the rapid expansion of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and highlighted fruitful exchanges between legislative bodies. He expressed readiness to lead a Slovenian delegation to the upcoming China International Import Expo and voiced support for the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Both sides agreed to step up practical collaboration in trade, investment, culture, science and technology, education, and sports. They also underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation under the United Nations framework and joint efforts to peacefully resolve international disputes.
As China and Slovenia look to the future, their partnership is set to deepen around sustainable development, legislative dialogue, and people-to-people exchanges—laying the groundwork for a more resilient and mutually beneficial relationship.
