China Warns Philippines: External Support ‘Doomed to Fail’

The South China Sea has once again become the focus of rising tensions as the Chinese mainland's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command conducted routine patrols from Friday to Saturday.

Tian Junli, spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command, accused the Philippines of regularly colluding with external countries to organize so-called "joint patrols," which Beijing says spread illegal claims and undermine regional peace and stability.

"We sternly demand that the Philippines stop its provocations and avoid further escalating tensions in the South China Sea," Tian said on Sunday, warning that any attempt to seek support from external forces is "doomed to fail."

According to Tian, the Southern Theater Command's troops remain on high alert to safeguard the Chinese mainland's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, underscoring Beijing's commitment to defending its interests in these contested waters.

With both sides maintaining a firm stance, observers say the next moves from Manila and its partners could determine whether dialogue or escalation prevails in this vital international corridor.
