China and Slovenia Pledge Deeper Cooperation During Wang Yi’s Visit

In a landmark meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi celebrated over 30 years of diplomatic ties between Slovenia and the Chinese mainland. Praising China as a responsible major country committed to multilateralism, Musar highlighted Slovenia's preference for partnership over confrontation and its readiness to uphold openness, free trade and collective action on climate change.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, commended Slovenia's small country, big diplomacy approach and its view of China as a partner rather than a rival. He pointed to China-Slovenia relations as a model of mutual respect and win-win cooperation that transcends differences in social systems and national size.

Both sides underscored their commitment to safeguarding the international order under the United Nations, promoting open markets and addressing pressing global challenges. Wang Yi reaffirmed China's support for the Global Governance Initiative, which aims to reform and improve global governance, oppose any law of the jungle and uphold fairness and justice on the world stage.

Looking ahead, China and Slovenia plan to enhance multilateral collaboration, encourage political solutions to regional hotspots and build a more equitable global governance system. Wang Yi also called on Slovenia to continue playing a constructive role in advancing China-Europe relations and fostering ties between the Chinese mainland and Central and Eastern European partners.
