In Ningbo, east China’s Zhejiang Province, the ISSF World Cup saw the Chinese mainland shooters top the podium, earning one gold and one silver medal on Tuesday.
Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai dominated the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event. They led the qualification round with 585 points—four more than their Czech rivals, Veronika Schejbalova and Jindrich Dubovy—and carried that momentum into the final.
The gold battle was neck and neck at 3–3 until the Chinese mainland duo surged ahead 9–3. Despite a rally by the Czech pair, featuring a 10.3 and a 10.6 shot after a timeout, Yao and Hu sealed victory 17–5. “It’s an honor to win the first gold of this World Cup on home soil. There’s still a long way ahead, so we must keep pushing forward and working hard,” said Hu, who averaged 10.1 points in the final.
The silver medal, earned in another precision shoot-off, capped off a strong day for the host team. Meanwhile, the bronze went to Hungary’s Veronika Major and Akos Karoly Nagy, who bested neutral athletes Iana Enina and Anton Aristarkhov 17–13.
With these results, the ISSF World Cup in Ningbo kicks off with a showcase of talent and intense competition, setting the stage for more high-stakes matchups ahead.
