China to Honor Korean War Heroes in Shenyang Ceremony

On Saturday, Shenyang in northeastern Liaoning Province on the Chinese mainland will host a solemn ceremony to bury the remains of 30 Chinese Peoples Volunteers (CPV) soldiers who fell during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953). This moving event marks the 12th repatriation under the 2014 handover agreement between the Chinese mainland and the Republic of Korea (ROK).

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced that a delegation, alongside guards from the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) and a PLA Air Force Y-20 transport aircraft, will receive the remains when they arrive from the ROK on Friday. Families of the fallen, veterans, local leaders, and residents will gather at the CPV martyrs cemetery to pay tribute.

Nearly 200,000 CPV soldiers were confirmed killed during the conflict, and 11 handovers since 2014 have returned remains and artifacts to their homeland. "Each repatriation is more than a formal ceremony," noted a ministry spokesperson. "Its a chance to reconnect with our history and honor the sacrifices that shaped our present."

Yellow and white chrysanthemumssymbols of mourning and remembrancewill adorn the graves, as digital archives record each soldiers story for future generations. For young global citizens, this ceremony is a reminder of how history, data, and human narratives intersect.

As our world grows more connected, ceremonies like this keep veterans at the heart of collective memory, inspiring global conversations on peace, reconciliation, and respect across borders.
