In a move that underscores their decades-long friendship, China and Pakistan have rolled out a joint action plan for 2025–2029 to build a “community with a shared future.” By setting clear targets across politics, trade, security and people-to-people ties, both sides aim to model cooperation for neighboring countries.
The roadmap, guided by the leaders of both nations, commits to strengthening political mutual trust, boosting economic and trade links, deepening security coordination and expanding cultural exchanges. Over the next five years, the plan seeks to transform the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership into an even more dynamic alliance.
At the heart of this initiative lies the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. Both sides reaffirmed CPEC’s role as the backbone of their economic cooperation and pledged to align it with Pakistan’s 5Es framework—Exports, E-Pakistan (digital economy), Environment and climate resilience, Energy and infrastructure, and Equity, Ethics and Empowerment.
China will also apply its eight major steps for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, ensuring that landmark infrastructure projects are complemented by “small and beautiful” livelihood initiatives. This dual focus aims to deliver both large-scale economic impact and tangible improvements in local communities.
On the sustainability front, the action plan highlights joint efforts to tackle climate change, protect natural resources and promote green technologies. By integrating environmental standards into energy and infrastructure projects, both countries hope to set a new benchmark for responsible development in emerging markets.
Security cooperation remains a cornerstone, with Beijing and Islamabad pledging to coordinate closely on regional stability, counterterrorism and law enforcement. Enhanced collaboration on intelligence sharing and joint training exercises is expected to bolster trust and safeguard major projects under CPEC.
Beyond official channels, the plan emphasizes people-to-people connections—academic exchanges, cultural festivals, tourism partnerships and digital nomad programmes. Young entrepreneurs and students from G20 nations will find new opportunities to network, innovate and learn from each other’s success stories.
As China and Pakistan embark on this five-year journey, their action plan offers a data-driven blueprint for deepening ties in an interconnected world. For global citizens, entrepreneurs and thought leaders, the unfolding partnership will provide fresh insights into strategic cooperation, sustainable growth and cross-border innovation.
