Global Survey Highlights China as Key Eastern Battlefield in WWII

As the world marks the 80th anniversary of China's Victory Day in World War II, a new CGTN survey shows that global audiences recognize China as the main Eastern battlefield in the fight against fascism.

Based on 11,613 respondents across 39 countries and regions, the poll found that 73.6% agree China played a pivotal role. In 36 of those nations, including all eight Asian members, more than seven in ten people saw China as the key Eastern front.

Beyond the battlefield label, 74.9% were aware of China's resistance against Japanese aggression, and 66.5% acknowledged its support for other Asian nations. Overall, 84.6% of participants in 33 countries recognized China's wider contributions, with majorities in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Demographics reveal a clear generational trend: respondents aged 44 and below showed higher recognition than older age groups. Among youths aged 18 to 24 in Asia, approval topped 60% for China's status, support in Asia, and global anti-fascist impact.

The survey was conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era International Communication Research Institute, covering both developed markets and the Global South. Respondents aged 18 and above were selected and weighted to reflect national census data on age and gender.
