In his keynote at the "SCO Plus" Meeting held in Tianjin, in the eastern region of the Chinese mainland, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward a clear vision: Shanghai Cooperation Organization members must commit to the international rule of law. During the session, Xi unveiled the Global Governance Initiative, aiming to strengthen multilateral cooperation under shared legal principles.
Xi emphasized that the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations – and other universally recognized norms of international relations – should be observed comprehensively, fully and in their entirety. He called for equal and uniform application of international laws and rules.
Highlighting fairness, Xi warned against double standards and cautioned that "the house rules of a few countries must not be imposed upon others." His remarks underscore a push for a level playing field within the SCO framework.
