President Xi unveils China-SCO energy, green & digital platforms

At the SCO Plus meeting in Tianjin on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled an ambitious agenda to deepen ties between China and fellow SCO member states. In a dynamic address, Xi highlighted plans to leverage China's vast market and implement a high-quality economic and trade action plan with the SCO family.

Central to Xi's vision are three new collaborative platforms focusing on energy, green industry and the digital economy. Alongside these, China will launch three specialized cooperation centers dedicated to scientific and technological innovation, higher education and vocational and technical training – aiming to build skills pipelines and research hubs across Eurasia.

On the energy front, Xi pledged to work with SCO partners to boost solar and wind power capacity by 10 million kilowatts each over the next five years. The roadmap also includes establishing an artificial intelligence application cooperation center and inviting all members to harness the Beidou Satellite Navigation System, as well as welcoming contributions to the International Lunar Research Station project.

By weaving together green transition, digital innovation and educational exchange, these initiatives could catalyze fresh opportunities for entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts and global changemakers from Central Asia to the Pacific.
