China-Arab Expo Champions Renewable Energy Standards

Last Friday in Yinchuan, young innovators and industry leaders from across China and Arab states gathered at the China-Arab States Standardization and IPR Matchmaking and Exchange Event – the first of its kind at the annual China-Arab Expo. This forum sparked dynamic dialogues on renewable energy, patent collaboration and the digital economy, all aimed at strengthening China-Arab economic and trade ties.

Guo Chenguang, deputy director-general of the Standard Innovation Management Department at the State Administration for Market Regulation, highlighted the need to build shared benchmarks for cross-border projects, naming energy, digital services and modern agriculture as top areas for collaboration.

Renewable energy is surging as a key pillar in Sino-Arab partnerships, and standardization acts as a bridge for innovation. Li Zhiping, vice president of the China National Institute of Standardization, outlined how new standards could accelerate joint projects in solar, wind and smart grids, opening fresh avenues for clean energy development.

Organizers also unveiled a suite of tools to boost technical exchange and trade strategies:

  • Foreign-language versions of national clean energy standards to support industrial development and global dialogue.
  • A comparative analysis of China-Arab clean energy benchmarks, showcasing best practices for green technology projects.
  • The 2024 annual technical trade measures report for Ningxia, offering data insights for policy-makers and businesses to refine production and export plans.

As entrepreneurs, policy-makers and students look ahead, these moves point to a turbo-charged phase of China-Arab cooperation. With shared standards and intellectual property frameworks in place, the roadmap to a greener, digitally enabled future is clearer than ever.
