Armenian Envoy Champions Shanghai Spirit for Peace and Connectivity

In a candid conversation ahead of the 2025 SCO Summit, Armenian Ambassador to China Vahe Gevorgyan sat down with CGTN's Cui Yingjie to unveil Yerevan's vision for regional stability and growth. He praised the "Shanghai Spirit"—peace, security and development—and commended China's leadership within the SCO.

"We stand firmly behind the Shanghai Spirit," Gevorgyan said. "Its guiding principles mirror our commitment to build bridges between Europe and Asia, creating corridors of trade, technology and culture." He highlighted how Armenia's strategic location makes it a natural hub for projects that cut across borders.

By aligning the Crossroads of Peace with China's Belt and Road Initiative, Armenia aims to foster a network of partnerships that drive economic opportunity and sustainable development. Gevorgyan pointed to recent figures showing robust growth in cross-border trade flows as proof of concept.

For young entrepreneurs and digital nomads, these corridors promise faster supply chains and smarter digital infrastructure. Thought leaders see an opportunity to integrate green technologies and people-centered policies as part of a new chapter in Eurasian collaboration.

As the SCO Summit approaches, Yerevan's envoy reaffirmed Armenia's readiness to deepen cooperation with fellow members. "Our shared future depends on our ability to work together, and the Shanghai Spirit lights the path forward," he concluded.
