Mexico City became the stage for "Echoes of Peace," a vibrant cultural exchange co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico and China Media Group (CMG). Over 150 guests from Mexico's political, media, cultural sectors and leading think tanks gathered on Saturday to honor the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
In a video message, CMG President Shen Haixiong reminded attendees that eight decades ago, forces of justice around the world stood shoulder to shoulder to defeat fascism. He said, "Today, we are honored to invite international friends to this commemoration to remember our shared past and reinforce our commitment to peace."
Shen also outlined CMG's vision for deeper global collaboration. By integrating ideas, art and technology, CMG aims to build a dynamic media platform for reporting, information exchange and resource sharing – amplifying calls for fairness, justice and multilateral cooperation in the face of global challenges.
The event's panel discussions explored multiple themes: the importance of preserving historical memory, the contributions of Global South partners to a new international order, youth exchanges between Mexico and China, and the creation of a China-Latin American community with a shared future. Leaders stressed that cultural dialogue and people-to-people ties are vital for nurturing trust and advancing sustainable development.
