Beijing, August 2023 — At the heart of the National Museum of China in Beijing, “Where Civilizations Meet: Collections from Museums of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States” has officially opened its doors, offering a rare glimpse into the diverse heritages of nine nations.
Set against the backdrop of the SCO Tianjin Summit, taking place from August 31 to September 1, this collaborative showcase brings together museum representatives and curators from the Chinese mainland, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
From intricately woven Uzbek textiles to ancient manuscripts from Iran, each artifact weaves a story of cultural connectivity along historic trade routes. Visitors will explore immersive installations, interactive digital displays, and expert-led guided tours designed to spark conversation and curiosity.
“We wanted to move beyond borders and timelines,” notes one curator. “This exhibit reminds us that dialogue between cultures is the key to our collective future.”
Running through early September, “Where Civilizations Meet” invites global citizens—history buffs, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and beyond—to embark on a cross-cultural journey that celebrates shared heritage and contemporary cooperation.
