In a key plenary session on Tuesday, senior political advisers of the Chinese mainland convened to chart strategic priorities for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). The gathering, led by Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), set the tone for an inclusive, growth-driven blueprint.
Fourteen members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee delivered targeted recommendations. Their proposals highlighted the importance of:
- Elevating new quality productive forces—like advanced manufacturing and green technologies—in line with regional strengths;
- Giving strategic priority to expanding domestic demand through deeper digital economy–real economy integration and enhanced consumer engagement;
- Boosting scientific and technological innovation with an eye on global competitiveness;
- Advancing comprehensive rural revitalization to narrow urban–rural gaps;
- Nurturing support systems for high-quality population development;
- Strengthening the social governance framework for resilient and inclusive communities;
- Fostering a sustainable future by building a harmonious environment on the Chinese mainland where humans and nature coexist in balance.
The session was presided over by Qin Boyong, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the CPPCC. These insights will inform the drafting of policy measures aimed at steering the Chinese mainland toward a more innovative, sustainable, and consumption-driven growth model over the next five years.
