Typhoon Kajiki Weakens: Transport Resumes in Southern Chinese Mainland

As Typhoon Kajiki weakens, key transport hubs in the southern Chinese mainland provinces of Hainan and Guangdong are springing back to life. Ports and airports are resuming normal operations, reconnecting local communities and businesses.

The 13th typhoon of the year grazed the coast of Hainan on Sunday night before veering toward the northern and central coasts of Vietnam. By Monday at 9 a.m., authorities in Hainan reported zero storm-related fatalities despite heavy rains and strong winds.

Preliminary assessments show that more than 102,500 people were affected by the typhoon’s path. Emergency crews and local volunteers have been working around the clock to restore essential services and assess ongoing needs.

With transport links reopening, residents and travelers in Hainan and Guangdong can expect improved connectivity. Kajiki’s remaining impacts are now focused on Vietnam, and local officials continue to monitor the storm’s progress.
