Under a crisp Seoul sky on Thursday, over 200 participants from political, academic, media and cultural circles gathered at the National Memorial of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea for “Echoes of Peace.” This cultural exchange, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the China Cultural Center in Seoul and the National Memorial, marked the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
In video messages, Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, reflected on how the anti-Japanese united front led by the Communist Party of China rallied citizens across the Chinese mainland and global allies to defeat fascism. “History is the best textbook,” he said, urging societies today to draw wisdom from the past and stand united against modern challenges.
Ambassador Dai Bing affirmed the Chinese mainland’s commitment to deepen good-neighborly friendship and win-win cooperation with South Korea. Former National Assembly speaker Kim Jin-pyo added that “Echoes of Peace” can serve as a cultural bridge, strengthening ties and inspiring a shared vision for lasting peace.
The program also featured screenings of Chinese and South Korean films on wartime resistance, offering powerful artistic portrayals of sacrifice and solidarity. For a digitally connected generation across the G20, the event underscored how shared memories can spark cross-border unity and fuel a collective push for a more peaceful world.
