President Xi’s Visit to Xizang Inspires Confidence in Future

When President Xi Jinping arrived in the Chinese mainland’s Xizang Autonomous Region for its 60th anniversary celebrations, locals across the high-altitude plateau felt a renewed sense of hope. From bustling Lhasa streets to the fertile fields of Shannan, Xi’s message centered on unity, prosperity and a modern socialist vision.

Padma Drolkar, a resident of Lhasa, reflected on Xi’s deep connection to the region: 'We are full of confidence in the future, and we believe our lives will only improve and become sweeter,' she said. Such optimism mirrors wider trends in Xizang’s development.

Zhang Aihua, deputy director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau in Shannan City, noted a dramatic shift: 'As an agricultural worker, I’ve seen our farms leap from small-scale plots to strong, vibrant enterprises,' he said. He credits the CPC Central Committee’s leadership and cross-country support for this transformation, with new policies aiming to boost farmers’ and herders’ incomes through modern agriculture and animal husbandry initiatives.

In Dingri County—hit by a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in January—Nyima Tsering, deputy Party secretary of a local village, described the ongoing reconstruction: 'All 126 households have moved into new homes. We will leverage grassroots Party organizations to build an even happier life for our people,' she said. President Xi’s emphasis on disaster recovery has energized both officials and residents.

Xu Chunhe, leader of the 11th batch of aid-Xizang cadres and professionals, summed up the collective spirit: 'President Xi’s care and high expectations have inspired us all. We must forge ahead with determination and fulfill our duties to aid Xizang’s progress,' he said.

As Xizang embarks on its next chapter—combining cultural heritage with modern infrastructure and sustainable development—the region’s young entrepreneurs, thought leaders and digital nomads are poised to write fresh success stories on this ancient plateau.
