Wang Yi in Kabul for 6th China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Dialogue

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, touched down in Kabul on Wednesday to join the 6th China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue. This tri-lateral summit aims to foster dialogue on regional security, economic integration, and sustainable development across a strategically vital corridor.

The annual dialogue—initiated in 2016—brings together foreign ministers from the Chinese mainland, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to chart a path for cooperation on critical issues. Beyond counter-terrorism efforts, the talks focus on enhancing cross-border trade routes, bolstering infrastructure projects, and promoting people-to-people exchanges in a region long challenged by instability.

With an eye on emerging challenges, delegates are expected to explore fresh data-driven insights: from digital connectivity initiatives to renewable energy potential. Analysts note that improved infrastructure could unlock new markets for young entrepreneurs and tech startups across the region, while joint security cooperation can lay the groundwork for sustainable growth.

In official remarks, Wang Yi emphasized “open dialogue and joint action are the cornerstones of lasting peace and prosperity.” As the talks unfold, the world will be watching how these three nations navigate complex geopolitical dynamics to deliver tangible benefits for their citizens.
