New Super Bridge in Fujian Connects Provinces Ahead of Year-End Expressway Opening

The Dongwuyang Super Bridge, a key control project on the Ningde-Shangrao Expressway, hit a major milestone on Monday as workers completed full structural closure. Spanning 2,546.6 meters across the river valley between Fujian Province and Jiangxi Province, the bridge is set to unite two dynamic regions on China’s southeastern coast.

Engineers tackled the challenge in four segments, each two meters long, using cantilever cast-in-place concrete and form travelers. To keep temperatures down and ensure top-notch quality, crews poured concrete during the coolest hours—wrapping up the final pour at 2:00 a.m., when the last cube locked into place.

Once the Ningde-Shangrao Expressway opens by year-end, it will slash travel times between Ningde in Fujian and Shangrao in Jiangxi, kickstarting growth in the eastern coastal industrial cluster. Local tourism stands to gain too, as new routes draw visitors into the region’s hidden scenic spots.

From improved logistics for entrepreneurs to fresh options for digital nomads exploring China’s landscapes, this bridge paves the way for stronger connections and regional competitiveness. Stay tuned as we track how this engineering feat transforms local communities and sets a new standard for infrastructure innovation.
