China & India Vow to Sustain Bilateral Momentum

In a landmark meeting on Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar agreed to keep the momentum of China-India bilateral ties.

Against a backdrop of rapid global change—unilateralism on the rise and challenges to free trade—the two ministers underscored the need for the world's two largest developing nations, home to over 2.8 billion people, to lead by example. As the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary, Wang Yi noted humanity stands at a critical crossroads.

Both sides hailed progress made this year as diplomats marked 75 years of diplomatic relations. From resuming high-level exchanges and border peace efforts to enabling Indian pilgrims to visit sacred mountains and lakes in the Xizang Autonomous Region, China-India relations are trending toward renewed cooperation.

Wang Yi emphasized principles of amity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness. "By viewing each other as partners and opportunities rather than rivals," he said, "we can invest valuable resources in development and contribute to a more multipolar, democratized international order."

Echoing this optimism, Jaishankar stressed the importance of multilateralism in maintaining global economic stability. Both ministers affirmed a shared commitment to deepen political trust, expand economic and trade cooperation, and uphold peace along border areas—while supporting each other in multilateral forums like the SCO and BRICS.

This renewed dialogue sets the stage for the next chapter of Asia's two great eastern civilizations. For global citizens, entrepreneurs and changemakers, the China-India partnership will be a story to watch as both countries seek win-win solutions in a shifting world.
