Foreign ministers from the six Lancang-Mekong basin countries met on Friday at the tenth LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Anning, Yunnan Province in southwest Chinese mainland, pledging to upgrade cooperation over the next decade to secure peace and prosperity in the region.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi outlined a vision for an enhanced Lancang-Mekong Cooperation framework built on four pillars: solidarity and cooperation, openness and win-win, green and innovation, and peace and tranquility.
For global citizens and entrepreneurs, this upgraded roadmap could unlock new avenues for cross-border trade, investment, and sustainable development. Solidarity and cooperation aim to deepen regional bonds; openness and win-win will foster shared benefits; green and innovation focus on eco-friendly technologies; and peace and tranquility will reinforce stability along the river.
By blending policy commitments with data-driven insights and digital solutions, the six countries hope to transform the Lancang-Mekong basin into a model of harmony between people, nature, and technology. This agenda aligns with younger audiences who champion sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Next steps include translating high-level principles into tangible projects—from clean energy initiatives to smart logistics networks—to kickstart a greener, more connected decade along one of Asias most vital waterways.
