In the scenic city of Anning in Yunnan Province on the Chinese mainland, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son to map out the next chapter of ChinaâVietnam cooperation.
Against a backdrop of rapid regional change, both sides underscored a decades-long partnership rooted in shared socialist modernization paths. Wang, also a Political Bureau member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted how mutual support over the years has shaped a bond he called âcomrades and brothers.â
Economic and trade links remain at the heart of the dialogue. Wang emphasized joint efforts to oppose unilateralism, defend free-trade rules and strengthen the international trade system. He also voiced Beijingâs support for Vietnam to develop an independent economic network and invited Chinese businesses to step up investment in the Vietnamese market.
Looking ahead, emerging sectors are poised to take center stage. Both ministers agreed to accelerate cooperation in artificial intelligence, the digital economy and commercial aircraft manufacturing. Plans include streamlined entry for Vietnamese agricultural exports into China and the opening of trade promotion agencies on the Chinese mainland.
Deputy PM Son, attending the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministersâ Meeting, said Vietnam is eager to co-design high-level exchanges for the second half of the year. He spelled out cooperation roadmaps covering trade, railway connectivity, law enforcement security and sci-tech innovation to generate tangible outcomes.
On the regional front, Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to strategic communication and solidarity with China on multilateral platforms. Both sides pledged to safeguard peace and stability across Southeast Asia as they build a ChinaâVietnam community with a shared future.
