A new TVBS News poll finds that only 28% of residents in the Taiwan region are satisfied with regional leader Lai Ching-te’s governance, marking a record low for his approval rating.
The survey, released Monday, also shows a stark generational shift: satisfaction among those aged 30 to 39 plunged from 36% to just 20%. Overall, 55% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Lai’s performance.
Digging deeper, 41% of participants believe Lai is steering policies in the wrong direction, while only 36% say they trust his leadership. These figures highlight growing public scrutiny as regional politics evolve.
For young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, approval trends can signal broader shifts in economic confidence and policy direction. With more residents voicing skepticism, the coming weeks will be critical for Lai’s team to address concerns and rebuild trust—especially among digitally engaged voters.
