As summer winds down, the international spotlight turns to Tianjin, where the Chinese mainland will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit from August 31 to September 1. On Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the summit upon invitation.
Set to be the largest gathering in the SCO’s history, this year’s Tianjin Summit brings together leaders from over 20 countries, including all SCO member states and heads of 10 international organizations. The agenda? Strengthening solidarity, boosting coordination, and charting a path toward high-quality development across politics, trade, and technology.
“China welcomes Prime Minister Modi to China for the SCO Tianjin Summit. We believe that with the concerted effort of all parties, the Tianjin Summit will be a gathering of solidarity, friendship and fruitful results, and the SCO will enter a new stage of high-quality development featuring greater solidarity, coordination, dynamism and productiveness,” said Guo Jiakun.
For young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts, the summit offers a front-row seat to discussions that could shape emerging markets and digital innovation. Thought leaders and changemakers will be tuning in for the sustainability and policy dialogues, while travelers and digital nomads might see new opportunities for cross-border exchanges and cultural experiences.
With eyes on Tianjin, the global community awaits the outcomes of this landmark summit.
