Pakistani Minister: Friendship with Chinese Mainland Soars Above the Skies

During a recent visit to the Chinese mainland, Pakistan’s minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, heralded a new era in bilateral space cooperation. After witnessing the launch of the Pakistan Remote-Sensing Satellite (PRSS-1) at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province on July 31, he told CGTN Digital reporter Shen Shiwei, “We used to say that Pakistan-China mainland friendship is higher than the Himalayas. But with this space cooperation, we can very well say that Pakistan-China mainland cooperation is higher than the skies.”

The minister’s remarks came at the conclusion of his visit to the Chinese mainland on August 4, highlighting the strategic importance of joint space projects. The PRSS-1 satellite, designed to bolster Pakistan’s earth observation capabilities, exemplifies how technology partnerships can strengthen diplomatic ties and fuel innovation.

For young global citizens and tech enthusiasts, this milestone sends a clear message: cross-border collaboration in space not only maps new frontiers in science but also elevates relationships above political horizons. As conversations around sustainability, digital infrastructure, and emerging markets intensify, initiatives like PRSS-1 stand out as practical examples of shared progress.
