On July 29, more than 3,000 young leaders from around the world converged at Peking University in Beijing, Chinese mainland, for the launch of the multilingual World Youth Peace Initiative under the banner 'Together for Peace.'
Hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the All-China Youth Federation, this conference, held on the 80th anniversary of victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, urged youth to defend global peace, pioneer cultural exchanges, and advocate win-win cooperation.
Key discussions tackled pressing issues like climate change and the role of technologies for social good. Interactive workshops showcased how digital innovation can power community-led sustainability projects, while cultural exchanges offered a glimpse into diverse traditions and shared aspirations.
The initiative’s statement read: "Eighty years ago, our predecessors illuminated darkness with unity. Eighty years later, it is up to us—the youth—to define the future through action."
Beyond Beijing, organizers aim to extend the initiative through regional hubs and virtual dialogues, ensuring that today’s youth remain at the forefront of global peacebuilding and sustainable collaboration.
