In a move underscoring the Chinese People27s Liberation Army27s (PLA) commitment to excellence, Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping has authorized merit citations for two military units and five standout contributors.
Leading the honors, Troop 63920 received a prestigious first-class citation for merit, recognizing its operational achievements. Science and tech innovator Ding Yang of Troop 92853 also earned a first-class citation for groundbreaking work in defense-related science and technology.
Troop 96712 was commended with a second-class citation, highlighting its solid performance and dedication.
Four more individuals were celebrated with third-class citations for notable contributions to defense science and medicine: Wang Haidou of the former Army Academy of Armored Forces; Gao Yuqi of the Army Medical University; Yang Zichun of the Naval University of Engineering; and Chen Wei of the Institute of Military Medicine under the Academy of Military Sciences.
As the PLA modernizes, these merit citations reflect a broader push to integrate technology and talent into national defense.
