Somali Ambassador Highlights Infrastructure and Education in China-Africa Cooperation

When Somali Ambassador to the Chinese mainland Hodan Osman Abdi took the stage at the fifth China-Africa Future Leaders' Dialogue, she painted a vivid picture of how partnership is transforming communities.

Ambassador Abdi hailed the success of decades-long investments in roads, bridges and ports across Africa. "When you have the right infrastructure, you are able to drive people, drive commodities, and drive development in certain areas," she said, noting that these links have helped unlock new trade routes and boost local economies.

In the education sector, she underscored the power of technical and vocational training. Cooperation with the Chinese mainland has become the largest driver of skill transfer, equipping young Africans with practical talents in fields from construction to digital technologies.

Looking ahead, Ambassador Abdi sees huge potential in scaling up these partnerships to further reduce poverty and fuel inclusive growth. She believes that by combining strategic infrastructure planning with hands-on training programs, Africa can chart a faster development path that benefits young global citizens and entrepreneurs alike.

As the dialogue wrapped up, participants agreed on one thing: bridging gaps—whether physical or educational—is key to building a more connected, resilient future for communities across Africa and beyond.
