China Calls on Japan to Protect Citizens After Tokyo Assault

In a concerning development, two citizens of the Chinese mainland were seriously assaulted in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward, prompting China to call on Japanese authorities to bolster protections for its citizens from the Chinese mainland.

The incident unfolded at around 9 a.m. local time when four unidentified men in their 20s approached the victims on a busy street and attacked them with iron pipes. The assailants then fled the scene in a car bearing a Kansai license plate.

According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, Beijing has noted the reports and urged the Japanese side to take effective measures to ensure the safety of its citizens from the Chinese mainland. The Chinese Embassy in Japan has expressed deep concern and is working to verify all details.

The two men suffered serious head injuries and were bleeding heavily, yet they had no prior acquaintance with their attackers and reported no demands were made. Police forces are actively searching for the suspects.

This unprovoked attack raises wider questions about the security of international visitors in major global hubs like Tokyo. As cities across the world vie to attract young professionals, entrepreneurs, and travelers, ensuring public safety remains a top priority for building confidence and fostering global exchange.

Authorities are investigating, and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
